The Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games held at Olympic Stadium
The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Games officially began on July 23, 2021, with an Opening Ceremony held at the Olympic Stadium. The Afghan athletes and the delegation from the National Olympic Committee of Afghanistan participated in the ceremony and carried the tricolor flag of Afghanistan. Five athletes are representing Afghanistan in the Tokyo Olympics in the following disciplines:
1. Kimia Yousofi in 100m athletics sport
2. Fahim Anwari in swimming
3. Farzad Mansouri in Taekwondo
4. Shah Mahmood Noor Zahi in athletics 100m
5. Mahid Yovari in shooting
Worthwhile to note that Mr. Ajmal Ghani, Senior Advisor to the President for Sports and Physical Training, represented Afghanistan in the Opening Ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
The Olympic Games will continue until August 8, 2021.
