Ambassador Abdali Met with the Executive Director General for Operations Sector of the Japanese Red Cross Society
On July 16, 2021, Ambassador Shaida Mohammad Abdali had a meeting with Mr. Otohiko Hori, Executive Director General for Operations Sector of the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS). They discussed the escalating conflict in Afghanistan and its humanitarian consequences, including the high number of civilian casualties and increasing civilian displacement. The two sides also touched upon the Covid-19 situation in Afghanistan and highlighted the need to gear up efforts to increase support for Afghanistan in response to increasing humanitarian needs in a time that the continuation of armed conflict, coupled with the impacts of Covid-19 crisis has further exacerbated people’s vulnerabilities.
